Keeping Children Safe in Education for September 2021 Published
On 6th July 2021, the DfE published the ‘for information’ version of Keeping Children Safe in Education 2021. This will come into force in September 2021; schools should continue to use the current version until then.
In addition, a new version of ‘Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment’ has also been published, ready to come into force in September 2021.
In the article below (and continues in the downloadable pdf), I look at the main developments in the new Keeping Children Safe in Education (2021) statutory guidance document. There is a lot to take in and many of the changes will need to be incorporated in the school's policies and procedures.
NOTE: It is important to be aware that a second version of KCSIE was uploaded on the 29th July 2021. The updated document changed the published guidance on low level concerns about staff. The 6th July document said that reports of these concerns should go to the DSL. The 29th July 2021 guidance (and the final version) says that these concerns should go to the headteacher.
